a shucking mess.

a shucking mess.

Before this can be our little beach house, it needs to get a lot MESSY.

It’s simple.
Rent dumpster.
Empty house.

We couldn't wait to remove the carpet from every room in this house.

(yep, that is dirt.  geee-ross. )

Kitchen Demo

In addition to the demo in the kitchen, we removed the wall dividing the kitchen from living room and relocated the heating and air unit.

So excited to share our journey with you.  Stay tuned for some structural changes that will make this forgotten house into an incredibly, functional place!

now it's time for another shucking good time.

Ok, I think you have seen enough.

Take a breath.

There are times I have to remind myself of the

big blue ocean and a beautiful beach sitting out there!

It makes this whole process worth every drop of blood, sweat, and tears worth it!

I’ve been hooked.

Trust me y’all!

It's the Beach

It's the Beach!
House hunting consisted of riding our bikes up and down the beautiful beach blocks searching the yards for the evasive for sale signs.  At the beach, you will see mansion, shack, cottage, mansion, shack, and cottage.
In that order.
Well, I quickly learned the phrase "It's the Beach"! This phrase can be in response to an unusual property, a slow driver, parking in random places, barefoot shoppers, etc.
During the house hunt, it meant saying goodbye to square footage and storage.
bye-bye square footage and storage.
In November of 2014, after 3 months of searching, we found the perfect place.  Perfect can mean many things to many people.  To us, good price + beach location + potential made this little gem the winner!  It certainly isn't much to look at here but we are ready to make it AWESOME!

(***Spoiler alert:  You will want to stay with us because the end result will shock you!)

It's the beach.
Soon, the phrase, "It's the Beach", began to mean something else to us.  Ocean waves, biking on the beach, and living without worries.
Sounds good to me.

So c'mon y'all, just trust me.

hi·a·tus

hi·a·tus:
a pause or gap in a sequence, series, or process.
It has been four years since my last post and I am so excited to show you what I have been doing.  My family and I (which has grown by one beautiful daughter, BTW!) moved to the beach two years ago on a crazy adventure from Minnesota!
We landed in Jax Beach, Florida!

Our goal when we arrived was to find a house as close to the beach as possible!  We were looking for a house that we could completely renovate and make our own.  After several months of house hunting and living in a beach rental, we found the house and want you to follow us on this crazy ride!

See me DIY a DIY

Hey y'all!  If you like this Restoration Hardware DIY, then you will love our Beach House Remodel.  Life is good!

Please visit our progress at

and let us know what you think.

Hello all!
Happy New Year!  Yes, sadly that is how long it has been since I last posted.  We have been CRAZY busy with family schedules and the biggest time suck of all….
moving into a new house!
 More on that later.

Recently, I spied a wonderful DIY project over at
from Gardners 2 Bergers:

Restoration Hardware Eye Chart Hack
(insert shout out to Becca here!  Excellent job!)

It turned out great!  I had to try this one.....

I pulled up the Restoration Hardware website on one half of my screen and Photoshop on the other half.

Next, I layered black for the background and selected a font that resembled the eye chart.
Helvetica Bold appeared to do the trick so I began creating the rows of letters in the layer tool.

(My Photoshop version vs the Restoration Hardware)

I continued to add the letters and numbers until I arrived at this final project.  Total time creating in Photoshop:  45 minutes.

Now it was time to send it off to Staples to be printed and mounted.  $9.99 later...voila!

I wanted to use a basic frame on this project.

I will let you know where I decide to hang this little guy!

Thanks for checking out my DIY Eye Chart!

Jackie
